Thursday 14th November
First full day in London.
Breakfast then...
Back to Horseguards to watch the morning inspection and the 11am and midday guard change..
Cavalry Blacks are beautiful horses.
The regiment ID is carved into right front hoof and ID number on left front of each horse.
The horses belonging to the Met Mounted Police are also spectacular.
General sightseeing until 3pm and then back to Horse guards for the 4 o'clock inspection. (Punishment Parade)
Apologies for the Trooper and horse overload. Also Met Police overload.
You must be aware at all times that the troopers are current serving soldiers and on duty whilst in uniform. (no conversing or making a nuisance of yourself.)
When they are not on the ceremonial roster it is full on army work.
Photos following the second group of mounted police are the Captain, Flag Bearer and Trumpeter who came to horse guards as part of a long guard on Wednesday Morning. They will ride back to Hyde Park Barracks.
There are women in both the Horse Guards and the Blues And Royals.
I have photos of those on duty. This particular group has a set of identical twins. I think I only managed to get photos of one of these sisters.
When The King is in London, the Guard consists of one Officer, one Corporal (who carries the Standard), two Non-Commissioned Officers, one Trumpeter and ten Troopers. This is known as a Long Guard. When His Majesty is not resident in London, the Guard is reduced to two Non-Commissioned Officers and ten Troopers.

We were lucky enough to speak to The Trooper who won the 2024 Princess Elizabeth Cup. 5th photo.
